It didn't go on the White Album because we'd already finished all the tracks. That's really all there is to it, except the middle took some time to sort out. I had a break while Paul was doing some overdubbing so I went into an empty studio and began to write. 'Something' was written on the piano while we were making the White Album. It's probably the nicest melody tune that I've written. That's the feel I imagined, but because I'm not Ray Charles, you know, I'm sort of much more limited in what I can do, then it came out like this. This is the song that inspired George Harrison to write the Beatles' 1969 hit 'Something,' which used 'Something in the way she moves' as the first line.Taylor signed with The Beatles' label, Apple Records, after his demo tape got the attention of Peter Asher, a longtime associate of the band (and brother of Paul McCartney's girlfriend, Jane Asher) who had recently taken a job at the label. When I wrote it, I imagined somebody like Ray Charles doing it. And so then I thought of trying to change the words, but they were the words that came when I first wrote it, so in the end I just left it as that, and just called it Something. And also because there was a James Taylor song called 'Something In The Way She Moves' which is the first line of that. So now, I do try to finish them straight away. Something Lyrics: Something in the way she moves / Attracts me like no other lover / Something in the way she woos me / I dont want to leave her now / You. He said, 'Once you start to write a song, try to finish it straight away while you're still in the same mood.' Sometimes you go back to it and you're in a whole different state of mind. I wrote the whole first verse and just said everything I wanted to say, and so now I need to write a couple more verses. It's like another song I wrote when we were in India. I usually get the first few lines of words and music together, both at once. The Beatles originally recorded Something written by George Harrison and The Beatles released it on the album Abbey Road in 1969. I wrote the song 'Something' for the album before this one, but I never finished it off until just recently. I like George's song 'Something.' For me I think it's the best he's written. I think that's about the best track on the album, actually. " Let It Be"/ " You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)" " Ballad of John and Yoko" / " Old Brown Shoe"
